The last time the NASCAR playoff field was cut, spots were up for grabs until the final laps.
Four more drivers will be eliminated Sunday at Kansas Motor Speedway, and there’s sure to be some drama along the way, with just two of the final eight spots locked up.

Daniel Hemric has the pole, but he’s not in the playoffs. Ryan Blaney qualified in third, but he’s already secured a spot in the next round. The top-qualifying playoff driver racing to keep his season alive Sunday is Brad Keselowski, who will start in third and is in seventh in the standings.
There are 18 points between ninth-place Alex Bowman and eighth-place Joey Logano, which could easily be made up Sunday. And any of the drivers on the bubble could take matters into their own hands by winning the race outright.
That’s what Larson and Ryan Blaney did in the first two Round of 12 races, ensuring they won’t be eliminated Sunday.
Which six drivers join them will be decided at Kansas.
