Black Mirror released all of season five onto Netflix this week adding three brand new feature-length episodes to the dystopian franchise created by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones.
Now Tom Cullen, who starred in the third episode of season one has revealed whether he would return to the hit show and what he really thinks about technology horror series.
Tom, who starred in The Entire History of You alongside Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker confessed: “Sure but I think once you’ve been in it that’s it.”
Discussing the franchise he told Express.co.uk: “It’s sick, when I first read those scripts I was huge fan of Charlie Brooker anyway from a teenager so I knew it was going to be very special and it is.
“I love that kind of subversive work that makes us reflect on our society I think it’s really great it’s terrifying but funny and good to watch,” he added.
Released in 2011, Tom played Jonas in a world where people have a ‘grain’ implanted behind their ear which records everything they see and hear.
Jonas was accused by jealous husband Liam of cheating with his wife Ffion which ultimately lead to Liam accessing Jonas’ memories to prove his theory.
Meanwhile Black Mirror’s creators revealed one scene which had to be cut.
Episode three of the latest series shows the blossoming romance between Yorkie (Mackenzie Davis) and Kelly (Gugu Mbatha-Raw).
Despite the show’s using devastating conclusions, this episode ended with optimism for the pair.
However Charlie revealed it wasn’t always going to end this way.
He told Refinery29: “There’s a couple of things we’ve cut out because it would be tonally a bit off in the episode.
“In San Junipero, I’d started writing a scene where you see Gugu’s character [Kelly] in a kindergarten and then you realise afterwards that these are children who had died and been uploaded to this world.
“See! In many ways it was a beautiful image, but it was so heart-rending [that] it destabilised everything else.
“So, sometimes we won’t put something in for that reason but other than that, we’re pretty comfortable…”
In other Black Mirror news, Charlie has explained the reason why season five star Miley Cyrus wanted to take on the role.
Singer Miley stars in Rachel, Jack and Ashley, Too which sees her as a performer whose live isn’t as perfect as it seems.
Charlie added: “We sent her the script of someone who played a popstar. We wanted someone like Miley Cyrus but we thought that was f**king stupid talk. We figured we had nothing to lose by trying to get our script to her.”
Luckily, she had seen the show and signed up to the series.
He joked: “I think she said, ‘It would p**s people off and p**sing people off is kind of my thing’.”
