St. Louis’ star offseason acquisition overslept for the day recreation and was neglected of the sport by supervisor Mike Matheny.
The 27-year-old Ozuna stated he slept via his alarm and apologized after the sport.
“I made a mistake,” Ozuna stated, through the St. Louis Publish-Dispatch. “All people could make a mistake. We’re human.”
Ozuna has appeared very human this season after enjoying out of his thoughts in 2017.
The 2017 all-star is batting .253 with three dwelling runs and 22 RBIs for the Cardinals this season. At this level final 12 months, he was batting .307 with 10 dwelling runs for the Marlins.
St. Louis beginning pitcher Michael Wacha did not even know Ozuna wasn’t within the lineup till rookie Tyler O’Neill stepped as much as the plate within the second inning.
“That stuff occurs,” Wacha stated. “I heard he set a number of alarms. Some folks truthfully sleep proper via them. He’s an amazing teammate. He’s an amazing man on this clubhouse. No laborious emotions right here.”
Ozuna was acquired from the Marlins this offseason to convey some pop to the lineup. He has underwhelmed to date.
