Early in the week it looked as if we’d go into Sunday with a host of key “questionable” players at RB and TE. Instead, it’s really just David Johnson and Delanie Walker. Alvin Kamara and Jared Cook have already been ruled out (with Malcolm Brown and Chris Herndon listed as “doubtful”), while Todd Gurley, Saquon Barkley, and Evan Engram didn’t even wind up on their teams’ final injury reports. Still, when sure-fire starters like Johnson and Walker and a starting QB like Mitchell Trubisky are game-time decisions, you know fantasy owners will be looking for the latest updates before finalizing start-or-sit decisions.

We’ll be updating this article with the latest on those players, so check back throughout the morning. Is David Johnson playing Week 7?

Johnson (ankle) returned to limited practice on Thursday, but Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said Johnson would not have played on Friday if there had been a game that day. He referred to the star running back as a “game-time decision” for Week 7’s game against the Giants.

Considering Johnson is nursing both back and ankle injuries, it wouldn’t be a shock if he was held out for a game. But he returned to practice this week earlier than last week, so that seems like a good sign. Johnson totaled 18 touches for 102 total yards and two touchdowns in Week 6, so as long as he plays, he’s a must-start. If Johnson is out, look for Chase Edmonds to get the bulk of the backfield touches and be a solid RB2 play.

Mitchell Trubisky injury update

Despite being listed as “questionable” for Sunday’s late-afternoon game against the Saints, Trubisky (shoulder) is expected to start after getting in full practices all week. The third-year signal-caller hasn’t played since the first drive of Week 4.

Trubisky hadn’t done much this season, averaging just 193 passing yards and accounting for three total TDs (all in Week 3) in his three full games. Fantasy owners certainly aren’t looking to start Trubisky even in a favorable matchup this week, but his presence shouldn’t hurt an offense that also didn’t do much with Chase Daniel under center. Continue to play Allen Robinson as a WR2.

Delanie Walker injury update

An ankle injury kept Walker from practicing on Friday, but ESPN’s Turron Davenport said it’s “very likely” Walker plays this Sunday against the Chargers.

At this point, fantasy owners should treat Walker like a true game-time decision, and considering the game kicks off in the late afternoon, anyone planning on playing Walker should have a backup ready to go. The easiest fix would be to grab Titans’ TE Jonnu Smith as a handcuff.
