Avengers Endgame gave the original superhero team some pretty definitive endings. While both Iron Man and Black Widow kicked the bucket, Captain America was given the future he always wanted – one in the past with Peggy.
The star added: “A lot of things would have to come together.
“It doesn’t feel, at this time, that would be a thing. It’d be a shame to sour that.
“I’m very protective of it. It was such a precious time, and jumping onto the movie was a terrifying prospect to me.
“I said no a bunch of times, and there’s a million and one ways it could have gone wrong. It almost feels like maybe we should let this one sit.”
Meanwhile, MCU Cosmic’s editor has suggested how Captain America could return.
Jeremy Conrad tweeted earlier this year: “In 10 years, when the New Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four are nearly being beat by Annihilus a portal will open and out will step a slightly older Chris Evans holding the shield. The theater will go insane.”
Presumably, the explanation would be that Cap pops to the future from the 1950s, when he’s in his late 40s, to help in a battle in the late 2020s/early 2030s before returning home.
Such cameos aren’t uncommon in other Sci-fi creations, with Doctor Who seeing former Doctors returning for anniversary specials thanks to time travel.
