Emperor Palpatine is somehow still alive after his fall in Return of the Jedi. Let’s not forget that in Revenge of the Sith Darth Sidious told Anakin Skywalker that he learned how to cheat death from Darth Plagueis. But now he’s back, what is his plan?
Well, one fan on Reddit has pointed out that Palpatine seems to have an ulterior motive to just ruling the galaxy.
In a new TV spot called Duel, his voice can be heard saying: “This will be the final word in the story of Skywalker.”
While a clip sees Sidious reveal to Kylo Ren that he’s been influencing him as Darth Vader’s voice in his head and through Snoke all along.
So what is his plan for Kylo Ren?

Let’s not forget that The Rise of Skywalker is concluding a saga that began with Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
If anything, the Skywalker saga is both Anakin and Palpatine’s story.
A Jedi prophecy said: “A Chosen One shall come, born of no father, and through him will ultimate balance in the Force be restored.”
Ironically, it was Palpatine who created Anakin and manipulated him into becoming Darth Vader.
But by the time of the original trilogy, Obi-Wan came to believe that the prophecy would be fulfilled by Anakin’s son Luke. Of course, in the end, Vader was redeemed in Return of the Jedi and sacrificed himself to destroy Palpatine.
With the two remaining Sith Lords dead, it was believed that the Force was brought back into balance. But with the sequel trilogy now existing and Palpatine surviving, maybe this prophecy is yet to be fulfilled.
And in what better way than for Anakin’s Force ghost to show up and put down Palpatine once and for all?
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
