Keston Hiura injury update: Brewers infielder (hamstring) to miss at least 2 weeks

The Brewers will be without the services of second baseman Keston Hiura for at least two weeks, manager Craig Counsell said Saturday.

The Brewers placed Hiura on the 10-day IL with a Grade 2 strained left hamstring.

Hiura, 23, is having an impressive rookie season, with 16 home runs and a .301/.369/.571 slash line in 70 games. His strained hamstring is the latest injury problem for the Brewers. Mike Moustakas is dealing with a bruised wrist, and Lorenzo Cain (knee) and Ryan Braun (back) are sitting out Saturday’s game against the Cubs.

“We’re bit by the injury bug,” Counsell said Saturday.

In a corresponding roster move Saturday, Milwaukee recalled third baseman Travis Shaw from Triple-A San Antonio. After struggling at the plate earlier this season, Shaw was demoted in late June. The Brewers (68-66) need him to return to form as the team chases a playoff spot in the final month.
