What happened to Nairobi in La Casa de Papel?
WARNING: This articles contains spoilers for Money Heist series 3.
Money Heist season three sees the original gang of thieves reunite to steal gold from the Bank of Spain.
Reuniting after Rio (Miguel Herran) is captured by the Panama authorities, El Professor (Álvaro Morte) reunites everyone to try and destroy those who are hunting them for good.
To do this, the plan is to draw out the authorities while using Berlin’s (Pedro Alonso) for a heist in the Bank of Spain.
The third series follows the major characters as they steal the gold before they attempt to escape alive from the bank.
Culminating in a dramatic finale, the heist draws to close with Nairobi’s life in the balance.
In season three, episode eight, one of the hostages is forced out to bring in a supposed bomb hidden in a teddy bear.
Nairobi reveals that the bear belongs to her nine-year-old son as he appears to be in danger.
In an emotional scene with Mónica Gaztambide (Esther Acebo), viewers learn that Nairobi’s son was taken away from her.
She then receives a call from the director of the police operation, Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri), who reveals that she has Nairobi’s son with her.
To prove she is telling the truth, she draws Nairobi towards the window to show her and as a result, Nairobi is shot by a sniper.
Nairobi is in a relationship with Helsinki (Darko Peric) in the show and in an emotional scene viewers watch him trying to curb the bleeding.
During the final episode, the team all work together to try and save Nairobi from bleeding out.
She says: “I saw my son and he’s okay. When he turns 18, you give him the money and you tell him who his mother was.”
In the final few moments of the episode, she appears to die in the arms of Helsinki.
However, whether she is actually dead or not, is not revealed at the end of part three.
Fans will have to wait until Part 4 of the criminal drama to see what happens to her.
The fourth series of the Netflix drama has already been confirmed by the show’s creator Álex Pina.
According to Spanish publication elPeriódico, the creator said at a press conference back in June: “They’re a group of people who still have a lot to say.”
“It took us quite a long time to decide, we wanted to respect our work. The success of the series around the world has been so crazy.”
Money Heist season 3 is available to stream now on Netflix.
