METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Saints proprietor Gayle Benson says she pledges to aggressively pursue modifications in NFL insurance policies that can promote extra “equity and integrity.”
Benson says it is clear the Saints had been “unfairly disadvantaged” of a visit to the Tremendous Bowl by the inaction of recreation officers “charged with creating a good and equitable taking part in discipline.”
The Saints proprietor is referring to officers’ resolution to not name a penalty on Rams defensive again Nickell Robey-Coleman for his early and excessive hit on Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis whereas quarterback Drew Brees’ third-down go was nonetheless within the air.
A penalty would have given the Saints a primary down contained in the Rams 10-yard line with about 1:45 left and allowed New Orleans to expire many of the remaining time left earlier than making an attempt a go-ahead discipline objective.
As an alternative, about 1:41 remained when the Saints took their final lead, and the Rams got here again to win in time beyond regulation.
Benson has been the only real proprietor of the Saints since her husband, Tom, died final March.
