WhatsApp ANGER – Controversial change IS COMING soon and fans don’t like it one bit

WhatsApp continues to be one of the most popular apps on the planet but that might be about to change.

The Facebook-owned platform has just announced a major change is on its way and fans are not happy about what’s coming soon.

It seems that, from next year, users will no longer get an advert-free experience when accessing parts of WhatsApp.

This change will affect the status section of the service with paid-for messages taking over the whole screen.

The news of this update was revealed during the firm’s annual Marking Summit in the Netherlands with photos of the new look even been posted online by attendee Olivier Ponteville.

There’s no official date for the advert update but Matt Navarra, social media industry commentator, has posted a tweet which states “WhatsApp Status (Stories) to get Ads in 2020.”

It’s this message that has seen the biggest reaction from fans with many replying to tweet to vent their anger.

In fact, some are so annoyed about the news they are threatening to quit WhatsApp altogether and move to other services such as Telegram.

One enraged WhatsApp user said: “Come everyone, let us all abandon ship.”

Whilst another added: “I swear to god when I get ONE ad message I will not hesitate to uninstall.”

Some fans of this app have even said they would rather pay a yearly fee than be bombarded by adverts with a one user stating: “I don’t want ads. I’d rather pay $50 a year to use it ad-free, same as always. Idiots.”

However, in recent interview Mark Zuckerberg, who founded Facebook in 2004, he backed the idea of advertising, saying: “I personally don’t believe that very many people would like to pay to not have ads.

“It may still end up being the right thing to offer that as a choice down the line, but all the data that I’ve seen suggests that the vast, vast, vast majority of people want a free service, and that the ads, in a lot of places, are not even that different from the organic content in terms of the quality of what people are being able to see.”

We’ll have to wait and see just how this change affects user numbers next year and we’ll update this article when we hear more about an exact date for the launch of adverts.
